Master Plan
Description
The long-term vision and the steps to achieve it, with each stage building on the last.
i12e.eu is being developed as an independent, nonprofit reference and comparison platform for European digital infrastructure. Its shared reference covers hosted providers and open-source projects across cloud infrastructure, email, content management, payments and other core categories.
Comparisons adapt to the visitor’s role, infrastructure category and geography, making capabilities, ownership, dependencies and supporting evidence easier to assess. AI agents will maintain a public, freely reusable dataset from approved sources, with human oversight, so that people and AI tools can draw on the same reference.
Within the SVDJ incubator on digital autonomy, the journalism application connects that reference to Dutch news organizations. Automated checks identify publicly observable dependencies; direct contact can help verify findings and add context. A personalized dependency map presents the findings as a guided story, followed by peer comparisons and relevant alternatives. Incomplete and unverified findings remain distinguishable.
Recommendations should offer a net financial benefit after accounting for the costs of changing, or cost neutrality with a substantiated sovereignty gain that the organization can communicate. These are principles for assessing change, not promised outcomes.
